The Observatory of the Mediterranean Landscapes, coordinated by the Region of Andalusia, represents an instrument for recognising and observing the landscapes which are typical of the Mediterranean, highlighting the evolutionary processes and the tendencies which play a role in their transformation. In order to  put it into practice, a series of landscape file-cards, which represent the observation points for each region and which highlight the identificatory characteristics of each area, was prepared.

The Observatory therefore has the goal of creating a common method for determining and observing the landscapes, based on an expansive database of images, which permit the identification of different scenarios and territorial situations starting from a basic typology elaborated on the characteristics of the Mediterranean landscape and its problems.
